Sentier des oliviers

Departing from the perched village of Villeperdrix, this is the perfect combination for a short trail outing or a discovery of technical trails with little change in altitude.

Description

After a warm-up start on the road, a beautiful monotrace takes you through rocky terrain, just a stone's throw from the Eygues river, continuing uphill through dry-stone terraces.

The sections you are about to walk through are part of a Natura 2000 zone, renowned for its remarkable biodiversity. You too can contribute to its preservation by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. Right in the heart of the Eygues gorges, the Olive Trail crosses a variety of agricultural environments, with many low walls, embankments, ditches and tree lines that are home to numerous species: insects, bats, reptiles, small mammals, etc. These are the hunting grounds of the Short-toed Eagle, a bird of prey that feeds exclusively on reptiles, and which frequents these well-exposed adrets.
