Circuit Nyons – Buis

From one of France's most beautiful detours to the historic lime tree capital, cross the Baronnies mountains in Drôme Provençale. You'll start by crossing the Garde Grosse mountain, which overlooks the town of Nyons, to the Col de la Croix Rouge.

Description

You continue to follow the GR9 over more rolling terrain, along tracks and wide paths to the Col de Milmandre. Finally, you'll find more playful paths to switch to the other side of Malpertuis, before rejoining the road and streets of Buis-les-Baronnies.

The sectors you're about to explore pass through a Natura 2000 area, renowned for its remarkable biodiversity. You too can play your part in preserving it by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. From the Eygues to the Ouvèze, this route takes you through the hinterland and its secret hills. After crossing Garde Grosse, you'll make your way through the Bordette valley, home for many years to the discreet Egyptian Vulture, one of the world's most endangered vultures. Arriving in Buis, you'll cross a landscape of well-exposed moorland, home to many Mediterranean bird species, including the passerine warbler and the ortolan bunting.
