The group "Rouge", founded by Madeleine Cazenave and part of the new jazz trios, will be demonstrating the singularity of their universe with force and talent.
Description
Founded at the end of 2018 by pianist Madeleine Cazenave in the company of double bassist Sylvain Didou and drummer Boris Louvet, Rouge will quickly have carved out a place for itself in the richly diverse landscape of new jazz in France.
His selection in 2020 for the Jazz Migration program was an opportunity to test his compositions in a series of concerts.
Undeniably fierce and introverted, tender and violent in the same inflection, Madeleine Cazenave's neo-romantic sensibility with hyper-contemporary accents marks the trio's aesthetic orientations.
With "Vermeilles", a second album as ambitious as it is seductive, ROUGE has taken a new step forward. While the ingredients of their first album, Derrière les paupières, are essentially the same, the trio has undeniably gained in maturity and collective mastery.
Moving from minimalist, cottony grooves imbued with a kind of pop melancholy (Feu, Louves, Move in), to hybrid compositions with contrasting movements that hint at more or less subliminal references to classical music (Granit, Tempête) and even chanson (the beautiful Strawberries in the Dark), ROUGE reasserts the singularity of its universe with force and talent.
