village SAHUNE

Sahune is located at the western entrance of the Gorges of the Eygues, as known as "Gorges of St May".

Description

The old village, considerably abandoned drom the 19th century on, has been restored since then: you can wander through little streets and remains of old shoemaker workshops, before reaching the old parish Church (17th century), the ruins of the feudal Castle and the castral Chapel (13th century, private property).
The modern village is spread and many houses are settled on both sides of the main road.
When you cross the bridge toward the old village, you discover the "modern" Church (1931) of the modern village, St-Michel-et-St-George, and its Art Déco stained-glass Windows.

A must see:
- The Bramard: a sphinx face sculpted in the Mount Coucou overlooking the village.
- The ramble of the old village
- Starting spot "Au fil de l'Eygues" path (Sahune-Nyons)
