Eglise de la Nativité

1

The church that stands above the south gate and whose baroque background should not obscure much older origins. Mentioned dice the XIV century during the Protestant Temple Calvinist episode of the village.

Description

A Calvinist temple during the village's Protestant period, it was subsequently taken over by the Catholic authorities, transformed, enlarged and enriched in the Baroque style and in the spirit of the Council of Trent. Extensive restoration work in 1978 brought to light frescoes from the late Middle Ages, and restored the Baroque altarpiece to its original splendor, featuring a lovely Madonna by Parrocel, whose weather-beaten cloak protects a beggar and a soldier in a reminder of troubled times.
