Dominated by its medieval village, from which hiking trails lead through landscapes of olive groves, truffle oaks and lavender, Allan offers exceptional panoramic views of the Rhône valley.
Description
Crowned by the ruins of the old village, totally abandoned at the end of the 19th century for the site formerly known as "La Bégude", the commune of Allan, located 6 kilometers southeast of Montélimar, covers an area of 28.8 km² and has a population of 1667.
The commune's territory is divided between a plain to the west, where agricultural activity has been maintained: viticulture (AOC Grignan-les-Adhémar), arboriculture, seeds, and wooded hills to the east, natural areas served by numerous paths conducive to leisure activities.
The "Centre Bourg" (village center), which has undergone a major facelift over the past 15 years, offers a wide range of local services and shops. Several housing estates and small apartment buildings have welcomed new residents, and the public school has recently been enlarged. There's a lively community life that helps to maintain a high quality of social and economic life.
In the surrounding area, numerous bed and breakfasts offer quality accommodation. Craftsmen, private wineries, art workshops and equestrian centers welcome visitors and holidaymakers.
