The NATURA 2000 site of the Roubion river is a place for walking where respect for flora and fauna is preserved.
Description
The decree of October 17, 2008, signed by the then Minister of State for Ecology Jean-Louis Borloo, designates as the "RIVIERE DU ROUBION Natura 2000 Site" (Special Area of Conservation FR8201679) the delimited area extending over part of the territory of the following communes: Bonlieu-sur-Roubion, La Bégude-de-Mazenc, Charols, Cléon-d'Andran, La Laupie, Manas, Montélimar, Pont-de-Barret, Saint- Gervais-sur-Roubion, Saint-Marcel-les-Sauzet, Sauzet, Savasse".
The aim of these Special Areas of Conservation is to conserve ecological sites with natural habitats of Community interest, as well as fauna and flora for their rarity and the essential role they play in the ecosystem.
Site designation:
- River Roubion between the Pont-de-Barret bridge upstream and the Montélimar eastern bypass bridge.
- All the ramières (alluvial forest) on both banks.
Management objectives and principles:
- Maintain and restore the river's functionality: solid flow management, lateral dynamics, concerted management of water resources in terms of quality and quantity (groundwater, surface water).
- Implement the recommendations of the river management plan (BCEOM, 1999).
- Conservation management of ramières alluvial forests
- Management and restoration of meadows and dry grasslands.

Habitat classes:
Mixed forests: 65
Inland freshwater (stagnant, flowing water): 25%.
Other land (including urbanized and industrial areas, roads, landfill sites, mines): 5%.
Other arable land: 4%
Dry grasslands, steppes: 1%.
Other site characteristics
The Roubion River lies at the boundary of two climatic zones and is home to numerous alluvial species.
