Equidistant from Dieulefit, Montélimar and Crest is the small village of Pont-de-Barret, watched over by three hills, Sainte-Euphémie, Eson and Briesse, and bathed by the Roubion and the Rimandoule.
Description
In Gallo-Roman times, the town was called Savenna, but the inhabitants and monks soon moved to the hill of Saint-Rambert, where the old village now stands. From the end of the 9th century, the village developed on its present site. The Notre Dame-la-Brune church, with its 5-arched choir, may date back to the 9th century. Like many villages in the region. Pont-de-Barret, on the "silk route" between the spinning mills of the Cévennes and the factories of Lyon, made its living from milling.
