There's nothing like a crossing to enjoy the variety of landscapes of the Baronnies in Drôme Provençale.
Description
Following the GR9 itinerary, you'll discover the single-track paths of Malpertuis and Milmandre, before joining a more rolling section to the Col de la Croix Rouge. A final difficulty awaits you on the climb up to Garde Grosse before returning down to Nyons.
The sections you're about to tackle pass through a Natura 2000 area, renowned for its remarkable biodiversity. You too can play your part in preserving it by adopting an eco-responsible attitude. From the Ouvèze to the Eygues, this route takes you through the hinterland and its secret hills. Above Buis, you'll pass through well exposed moorland landscapes, home to numerous species of Mediterranean birds, including the passerine warbler and the ortolan bunting. Then you'll reach the Bordette valley, where the discreet Egyptian vulture, one of the world's most endangered vultures, has nested for many years. Finally, arriving at Garde Grosse, you cross the territory of the majestic Golden Eagle.
